Calling all Dentists!
Posted by admin under: Volunteers Needed.

I was having a conversation recently with someone about medical volunteering, and the thought occurred to me…why is it so much easier to get medical volunteers than dental? In so many places OnCall volunteers in, dentistry is the number one request for medical assistance. My curiosity led me to the web…are we the only ones experiencing this shortage? To my surprise I found several articles on the topic. Reasons range from dentists being busier than doctors, to smaller numbers of people attending dental school. What do you think?
If you or anyone you know of is a dentist or hygienist and would like to get involved in humanitarian work, let them know about OnCall: Medicine with a Mission today!

I am a third year dental student here in NYC. Myself and several of my classmates would be VERY interested in attending an on-call mission trip! While dentists are busy running their own practices, dental students (with clinical experience) are a great resource for filling the need for dental care for underserved populations. In my opinion targeting dental students would also be a great way to insure that we become service-minded dental practitioners! Please do not hesitate to contact me.
