Yesterday we prepared essential medications and vitamins for the clinic and visited the nearby villages to invite everyone to the mission for free medical care.  Our team consists of i61 volunteers, a nurse and a nurse practitioner.  One hundred and two patients came today.  We saw a large number of children with dehydration that can be easily prevented with the use of treated water.  We were able to provide medical care and prevention health care teaching to the families who came. 

There was one older woman who came to the clinic using crutches with her left leg wrapped in bandages.  She was rescued from the rubble after the earthquake and had surgical repair of her left leg.  Eighteen months later she presents to our clinic with her chief complaint being fear…. fear of sleeping, fear of walking and fear of falling.  She kept her leg wrapped in bandages because of this fear.  She allowed us to remove her bandages and we found a perfectly healed limb.  She had no physical limitations.  Her fear restrained her from walking and using her leg fully.  We were able to share with her that medicine has nothing more to offer to her.  Just as Peter and John offered only Christ to the cripple,  we told her that we have only Christ to share with her.  She was receptive of our words and prayers and walked away from us without her bandages!
