Day 8- Last day of Haiti Medical Mission Trip
Guest blogger: Andrea
The last day of our trip started at 5:30 AM, for three of us, as we wanted to watch the sunrise on the rooftop of the guest house. There was something so marvelous about the work of God and the fellowship was very sweet as Martha, Joe and myself watched the sun rise. We ended our favorite “rooftop experience” with praying for a fresh touch of the Holy Spirit and strength, on the guest house, all the wonderful workers there, as well as for the orphans and the people of Haiti .
After we packed our suitcases, we spent time encouraging our hosts. We then bid farewell to our hosts and all the workers of Child Hope International.
We had such a beautiful time there and we all left so encouraged even though we were very tired. Several of us went back to the OnCall Clinic to say our last goodbyes.
There was such a sweet presence of the Lord and we decided to call that place “the House of Worship”. At any point when we stepped in there, we just started praising the Lord and continually sang and prayed. This was one of the most beautiful part of the trip for me. We ended with praying for the host of the house, for the translators and young helpers from the community who were such a blessing and for the presence of the Lord to stay there and encourage and strengthen the weak and the brokenhearted. We all made beautiful friendships with each other in the team and with the young people from the Haitian community. We are still here, but miss them already. It feels a little bit like home here and its hard to leave…
Our flight was delayed by three hours, so we had plenty of time to walk around after checking our bags. The weather was so hot but we enjoyed a lovely meal and the most amazing fresh squeezed passion fruit juice “Grenadia.”
In conclusion, we are just simply amazed by the faithfulness of God: He was present and was leading us step by step each day. He touched hundreds of local Haitians through us, He molded our team together and brought unity among us in the most amazing way, and He gave us unspeakable joy through it all. We are thankful and praise our Savior for giving us this amazing opportunity to serve HIM in Haiti.
